Chevron vs Herringbone

Even though chevron and herringbone wood floors look very similar with their zigzag shapes, they are actually quite different. With a chevron floor, the wooden planks are cut at an angle—usually 45 degrees. When you put them together, the ends meet to form neat, straight "V" shapes that look like little arrowheads pointing in a row. This style gives a very modern, smooth, and symmetrical feel to a room. On the other hand, a herringbone floor uses standard rectangular wooden blocks laid in a broken, staggered pattern. Each piece is cut at a 90-degree angle so that the end of one board touches the side of the next one. This creates a classic, step-like look. In short, chevron offers a sharp, clean, and luxurious design, while herringbone gives a more traditional and textured look.
